Wood Deck – Untreated

When building a wood deck, untreated lumber is not a wise decision. It will reduce the cost of the deck, but without treatment, you run the risk of having to replace the entire deck within a few years. This is because the untreated lumber is susceptible to rot, decay and insect infestation in addition to the elements of the weather. Being exposed to the weather can seriously harm the wood in your deck if you do not bother treating it with a wood preserver of some kind. Protect your wood deck. Untreated lumber needs to get its coat of protection too.

If you do not want to have the harmful chemicals associated with pressure treated lumber, you can still build a wood deck. Untreated lumber is readily available and you can look at decking treatment once you have it in place. You can use a decking preserver on each board before you start the deck, which will allow you to coat the entire board on all four sides for the ultimate protection.
